Losing an old friend

One of Assiniboine Park's oldest residents, the giant Grandma Elm tree near the Assiniboine River footbridge, was felled this morning after testing positive for Dutch Elm in an effort to spare other trees the disease.

Manitoba crews heading west to fight forest fires

Manitoba is sending some manpower out west to help battle forest fires.

The province announced this morning that two crews are heading to British Columbia and the Northwest Territories to assist in the firefighting efforts in those regions.
