National High Five Day!!!

The high five is awesome. Always has been. Always will be.

Today is National High Five Day, and we’re going to attempt two world records. Chrissy Troy is going to be attempting the hardest of the records: Most High Fives in 24 hours. This may seem largely pointless, but it in fact has a point. A very good one. For every high–five she connects on today... we’ll donate 25 cents to the MS Society. With the current record being 5,000... there’s much at stake today. It won’t be easy. She’ll have to keep her arm up the entire time. There are no breaks. She’s been working out steadily for a few months which should work in her favour. This is an epic undertaking, but I believe she is up for it. 5,001 high fives and she’ll make history. Today is a great day.

Record number two is The World’s Longest High Five. The title doesn’t really describe the feat, so I will explain how it works. A little while ago, two dudes started 3 kilometres away from each other, jogged towards a pre–determined meeting place, then connected on a high five. Lloyd the Intern and I will start 5 kilometres apart this morning – I will start my run at Portage and Main, while LTI will be by that Hydro mural close to Polo Park. I think we are to meet for the record setting high five somewhere around Arlington. If we miss, we have to turn around and start all over... which would be equal parts entertaining and super lame as missing a high five is poor. Again, today is a great day. Keep the High Five Alive 2010.
