Spotted in downtown Vancouver.
1) Jean Chretien. Spotted at The Fairmont. Weird in that I was recently in an elevator with him at The Fairmont Royal York in Toronto. Why is he here? Well, for starters, he was integral in getting Vancouver the winning bid as host city for these games. I think that was 7 or so years ago. It’s probably that reason, or perhaps it might be that Jean Chretien has an honorary degree from pretty much every university in the world (York, Moncton, McMaster, Lakehead, Alberta, Michigan State, Meiji University in Tokyo...) yet none in the province of British Columbia. Maybe he’s hoping UBC will step it up and give him his due.
2) Ryan Reynolds. Spotted at the Sutton. Most likely here because he’s from here. Other possible reasons include the fact that he might actually be in better shape than some Olympians therefore could offer some training tips, or that he has always had an interest in the Oympics since he went to the same school as the only 3–time Olympic gold medalist Canada can’t seem to remember – Kathleen Heddle.
3 Gordie Howe. Spotted at The Fairmont. Well he should be here, as he is known as Mr. Hockey and there is hockey being played here. It you are Mr. anything, you should be at any event that event that features the activity that follows the Mr.. Gordie Howe was born in 1928. That same year Canada won gold in Olympic men’s hockey. This may be why he’s here. Why he’s actually makes no difference to me. Gordie Howe is awesome.
