Frozen predator: Giant shark sculpted out of snow turns heads in western Michigan

  • Print

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A giant shark sculpted out of snow that features a bright red gaping mouth and pointy teeth is turning heads in western Michigan.

The frozen predator is the creation of Stephen Garcia, who is back in action at his Grand Rapids Township home after a 5-year break.

Garcia tells The Grand Rapids Press (http://bit.ly/1bP5n8U ) he's "an artist of strange things." He's worked about a month on the shark, which is big enough for a person to sit inside its mouth. It appears as if it's swimming in a wave that runs the length of the home.

His past creations dating back to 2003 included a crocodile, a tiger, an eagle and a surfing rabbit. Of his work, Garcia says: "People who hate winter say it was really meaningful to them."
