MOON ALERT Avoid shopping from 4:15 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. After that the moon moves from Virgo to Libra.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

Be careful not to make promises you can't fulfil because you might be tempted to do so. There's a feeling of largesse in the air and everyone wants to please everyone else, which means some preposterous offers and unrealistic promises are flying around. (Believe me.)

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

You want to enjoy yourself, but remember... too much of a good thing is not always wise. (Although according to Mae West, "Too much of a good thing can be wonderful.") Enjoy partying, but don't become a cautionary tale for everyone.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

Be careful of promises that you make to family members. If you're entertaining at home, you might go overboard in some way. No doubt your guests will feel well-treated but you might end up with a big expense and a huge mess to clean up. Be realistic.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Your enthusiasm for everything will make this an upbeat day and conversations with others will be friendly and enjoyable. It's a good day for writers and salespeople. However, if you are shopping, stay in touch with the Moon Alert above to protect yourself from being an easy mark.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

Be careful spending money. Really careful. Check with the Moon Alert above. Even in the good times, you still might go overboard buying something because you can't help it. On the upside, you might see ways to make money. Oh yeah.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

This is a good day for you. You feel generous and benevolent to everyone around you, which makes you willing to overlook petty irritations. It's easy to take the high road. You might enjoy profound discussions with others. (Especially people who know you don't look in the dictionary for the meaning of life.)

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

If you can benefit others, you will for two reasons: First you have the awareness and insight to see the misfortune and suffering of others. And secondly, having seen this misfortune, you have the impulse to practice a kindness or do something about it. (That's pretty noble.)

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

In your attempt to impress a group that you might be shmoozing with, be careful you don't promise more than you can deliver. And don't volunteer for anything. Things tend to look better than they really are. Do yourself a favour and remain silent.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You're tempted to do something big and splashy to impress an authority figure -- perhaps a parent, boss, teacher, VIPs or even the police. Remember your original objective. You want to impress. You don't want to look like someone who couldn't follow through on what they said they would do. (Duh?) Think twice.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You'll enjoy travelling anywhere because you have a strong need to get outta Dodge. You want to see something different because you're hungry for change and adventure. Profound discussions about philosophy and religion will intrigue you.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

If you have to share or divide something, make sure you have a healthy self-interest. Don't give away the farm. The key to a wise decision is making sure you don't have any regrets later. (Keep that in mind.)

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

You will truly enjoy fun times with partners and close friends. Accept all invitations. Your positive enthusiasm for life will be contagious and others will enjoy your company. It's all good. However, whatever plans you make, make them in pencil, not ink. Give yourself an out.

Apache warrior leader Geronimo (1829-1909) shares your birthday. You are intelligent and observant. You think beyond today to all your tomorrows, which is why you often save something or build an inventory that you value. You believe in being prepared. You are also patient in how you plan for your success. Your year ahead is the beginning of a fresh new cycle. Open any door!
