MOON ALERT Avoid shopping or making important decisions after 4:45 p.m. The new moon in Leo occurs at 4:51 p.m.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

Sports events might have surprising outcomes. Similarly, social occasions, flirtations, festive luncheons and parties might be "different" for you and certainly stimulating. Love at first sight is possible. Although for some, it might take second sight.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

Your everyday home routine will be interrupted, perhaps mildly or in a big way. Who knows? That's the distinguishing feature of surprises -- they're hard to predict. A family member might have surprising news or a parent might catch you off-guard. ("Did you say Mom got a tattoo?")

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

This is a stimulating day because you will encounter new places, new faces, new ideas and new activities. In fact, the newness of everything is refreshing. However, take note: All of this razzle-dazzle could create a mildly accident-prone situation for you so be alert. (Yeah, yeah, we know. The world needs more alerts.)

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Your mind is on cash flow, financial matters and shopping. However, an unpredictable element is present, which means you should keep your eyes open. Watch your money and guard your possessions. If shopping, keep your receipts and count your change. Ka-ching!

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

You have a strong drive for personal freedom. You want to do your own thing, and why not? Of course, you can't ignore responsibilities, but you can acknowledge your need to spread your wings and be independent. Try for a reasonable balance.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Something hidden and surprising will catch you off guard. It could be news from an unexpected source or a secret you discover. This is not a boring day, although you might feel restless. Keep your eyes and ears open and you might discover a fascinating truth.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

All your social contacts, especially in groups, will trigger a few surprises for you. You might meet someone who is a real character. Or someone you know might do something quite bizarre. Whatever the case, others can show you the way or liberate you. "Freedom!"

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Relations with authority figures (bosses, teachers, the police, parents and VIPs) might not go as you expect. Others might zig when you thought they would zag. ("Whaaat?") Surprising news might delight you. Caution against knee-jerk reactions. Be cool.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You might get a chance to travel somewhere unexpectedly or explore opportunities in training or further education. Or you might meet someone from another country or culture and this intrigues you. Grab every chance to explore exciting adventures. Learn something new.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Surprise gifts, goodies and favours from others might come your way. Do keep your pockets open. However, to be safe, stay on friendly terms with your bank account to make sure you know what's happening. Matters related to shared property and the wealth of others are unpredictable.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Your interactions with partners and close friends might bring a few surprises. Someone might demand more freedom in a relationship. Or you might feel you need more space. (Could go either way.) Be open to compromise. Remember: You must be as good for your partner as he or she is for you.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

Computer glitches, electronic hiccups and unpredictable events (staff shortages, new staff, cancelled meetings or new meetings) might send your day off on a tangent. However, you might learn something valuable and exciting. Stay light on your toes. New information could possibly lead to an increase in your earnings now or in the future.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY

Actress Lucille Ball (1911-1989) shares your birthday. You have a romantic quest for anything unusual or unique. You shun boring predictability. You want to live! In fact, you lust for experience. You're intrigued by people and situations that are fascinating. Because your lifestyle is independent and unusual, these are the kind of people you attract. This year your focus will be on partnerships and close friendships.
