MOON ALERT We have the all clear to do business and make important decisions. The new moon at 5:14 a.m. is in Capricorn. The new moon on Jan. 1 -- how auspicious!
ARIES (March 21-April 19)
On the first day of the year we have a new moon. How about that? This is the perfect day to think about your life direction in general. Do you know where you're headed? Where do you want to go?
TAURUS (April 20-May 20)
This is the best day of the year to ask yourself what further training or education you could get that will improve your job and career. Furthermore, what further education or travel would richly enhance your life? Got any ideas?
GEMINI (May 21-June 20)
It's time to hatch a plan about how to get out of debt and also how to wisely share possessions and property with others. You might have to rethink some values in order to compromise with the values of others. (It's called "getting along.")
CANCER (June 21-July 22)
Here it is the beginning of the year, and it's also a new moon. Furthermore, it's the only new moon all year opposite your sign. Take a moment to think about how you can improve your partnerships and closest friendships.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)
Get serious about resolutions on how to be as healthy as you can. Why not be the best you can be? And while you're on this kick, what can you do to improve your job and your work habits? If you work right, your life will be easier.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
On this first day of the year, which is also a new moon, think about your creative energy. Do you appreciate the arts or explore arts and crafts? Do you give yourself enough play time? It's so easy to overlook our need to express ourselves. It matters.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
On the first day of the year, the universe is giving you a clear signal. What can you do to improve your home and your family relationships? It's that simple. The benefits are obvious because you love beautiful, harmonious surroundings.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
As you set out to reinvent yourself now, which is what you're going to do in the next seven years, it's a perfect day to think about how you communicate to others on a daily basis. Do you truly listen? Are you clear about what you want to say?
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
The message for you at the beginning of this year is that you must be clear about how you want to earn money and what you will do with the money you do earn. Expanding this, you also have to be clear about what you own and what matters to you.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
Take a realistic look in the mirror and ask yourself what you can do to improve the image you create on your world. It's the first day of the year and it's also the only new moon in your sign for the next 12 months. What do you think about the way you look?
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
There is a new moon on this first day of the year, which means this is the time to think about spiritual, mystical matters as well as how you can be in touch with your inner world. This is not just touchy-feely stuff. Your inner world runs your outer world.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)
The new moon on the first day of the year urges you to think about friendships and what loving means to you. Furthermore, it's the best day of the year for you to ask yourself how you can be a better friend to others. Any thoughts?
Financial leader and head of IMF, Christine Lagarde (1956), shares your birthday. You're capable, competent and organized. You have enough personal authority to make things happen in your world. You are loyal, honest and trustworthy. Many of you develop a particular technique with your hands. Privately, you have strong emotional reactions to things. This year something you've been involved with for nine years will end or diminish to make room for something new.
