MOON ALERT We have the all clear to do business and make important decisions. The new moon in Cancer occurs at 3:08 a.m.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

Power struggles with a parent or a boss are likely. Domestic squabbles might also take place. Tonight, small appliances might break down or minor breakages could occur. Ouch! It's one of those days. Stay flexible.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

It's easy to get into arguments, especially with siblings, neighbours and relatives. This is because you are obsessed about something. You want to have your own way. You might feel you are right, and therefore, you can't back down.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

Compulsive feelings about financial matters could put you at odds with someone. Perhaps you're determined to buy something? Perhaps you're determined to handle something you own in a certain way? Take a quick check to see if you're being reasonable. Hmm?

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Emotional outbursts with others might take place. This could be due to jealousy or feeling miffed about something. Hopefully, it will pass quickly. (Try drinking lots of water.) Remember: anger has no function except to make everyone miserable.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

Your desire to improve things at work or improve your health might make you obsessed about something. This could be private, behind the scenes or something secretive. Nevertheless, for your own sake, lighten up.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

A nasty confrontation with a female might take place. It most likely will be in a group situation, but not necessarily. Try not to make a big deal about things. When the annals of history are written, will all this really matter? Get things in perspective.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Although you are an excellent debater, you don't like arguments. You especially do not like public arguments. With this in mind, be as diplomatic as possible when dealing with authority figures because things could go sideways in a New York minute. Patience is your ally.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Avoid controversial subjects like politics, religion and racial issues. People will be heated about these issues and logic will be thrown out the window. Therefore, what's the point of arguing? You can't reason people out of an unreasonable point of view because reason never got them there in the first place.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You might have quarrels about money, inheritances, shared property, taxes, debt or different values with someone. Avoid this if you can. Optimism is a survival issue for you. You need positive vibes, and certainly, not arguments. Do yourself a favour and jog in the other direction.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

It is the perfect day to demonstrate grace under pressure when talking partners and close friends. Why? Because a nasty argument could easily break out. And what's the point of that? Now you will be at odds with a loved one. Grrr. But if you demonstrate that the Capricorn patience, no worries.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Do your best to get along with co-workers because snarky little comments or minor hissy fits will not promote your cause. In fact, quite the opposite. (Plus you have to work with these people in the future.) Therefore, no matter how strongly you feel about an issue, drop it. Be cool.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

Parents should be patient with children because everyone is slightly crazy and obsessed about something, including you. Therefore, don't pull heavy power plays because you're the adult. Appreciate that young people or your kids will be insistent about something.

Writer/director/producer J. J. Abrams (1966) shares your birthday. You are determined and focused. You have a disciplined willpower that allows you to overcome tough odds or obstacles in your way. You are protective to family and loved ones; and also convincing and persuasive. This year ahead is a test for you. It's a time of growth. Work to build or construct something, but avoid major changes. Do not act yet.
