Singers Brandon Boyd, left, and Michelle Williams, right, perform at the "Jesus Christ Superstar" arena spectacular press conference and press performance to announce a North American arena tour on April 4, 2014, in New York.

Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular, scheduled for July 4 at the MTS Centre, has been cancelled.

Refunds available at point of purchase. Tickets purchased online and via telephone will be automatically refunded.

The entire North American tour, which was to begin in New Orleans on June 9 and wrap up in Boston on Aug. 14, was abruptly scrapped on Friday afternoon. No reason for the cancellation was given.

According to the New York Times, the cast of this splashy production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice rock opera was to include Ben Forster, the winner of a British reality-TV competition, as Jesus; Brandon Boyd of Incubus as Judas; Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child as Mary Magdalene; and John Lydon, the lead singer of the Sex Pistols, as King Herod.
