10,000 apply to be on Big Brother Canada

TORONTO -- Producers of the inaugural reality series Big Brother Canada say 10,000 people have applied to be on the Canuck spinoff.

The Slice show recently wrapped up an online and national casting tour that included stops in Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax, Montreal and Toronto.

There are 14 spots available in the Big Brother Canada house, which will be outfitted with wall-to-wall cameras and microphones to capture residents' every move.

Each week, the house guests will be made to compete in a series of challenges and vote each other out until one takes home the grand prize of $100,000.

Executive producer John Brunton promises that "this group of houseguests will be completely unique, completely Canadian."

Big Brother Canada is set to premiere on Slice in 2013.
