LAST year, it was a father-son team from Winnipeg that crossed the finish line first in The Amazing Race Canada.

This year, a local mother-son tandem hopes to follow in those footsteps.

Winnipeggers Nicole and Cormac Foster were revealed Wednesday as contestants in The Amazing Race Canada’s second season. The series returns to CTV’s summer schedule on July 8.

Nicole, 39, is described in a CTV-issued bio as an organized and competitive person who works as a director of resident services in Winnipeg. She is also a good driver, according to CTV’s release. Son Cormac, 19, is a biosystems engineering student at the University of Manitoba who is described as physically fit and competitive, with a knack for problem solving.

In The Amazing Race Canada’s first season, Winnipeggers Tim Hague Sr. and Tim Hague Jr. — a.k.a. "the Tims" — pulled off a stunning come-from-behind victory after Tim Sr. used advice his wife offered before the race started — take notes about everything — to solve the crucial final puzzle.

This year’s show offers a prize worth half a million dollars, including free business-class flights for a year, a pair of new pickup trucks, free gas for life and a $250,000 cash payout.

More competitors’ identities will be revealed this week by CTV.
