At last, a Big Brother to call our own!
Finally, our long national reality-TV nightmare is over -- beginning in February, Canadians will have their very own collection of Big Brother "houseguests" entangled in all manner of maple-flavoured mischief, misbehaviour and ill-considered makeout-session hookups.
Big Brother Canada will premiere Feb. 27 on specialty cable's Slice network, executives from Shaw Media announced Wednesday. The series will air Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with the companion series Big Brother After Dark airing seven days a week from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Slice.
The Big Brother Canada house is currently under construction in Mississauga, Ont. According to Shaw/Global executives, more than 10,000 applications were received for the series' 14 houseguest spots.
Shaw Media also announced that Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Vancouver will premiere Feb. 5 on Slice, with returning cast members Jody Claman, Mary Zilba and Ronnie Negus being joined by three new participants. Their identities will be revealed early in the New Year.
