The Good Wife

Alicia and Cary take the case of a search engine that wants to sue the NSA. They have no idea that the firm's connection to a former client has made them the target of surveillance as well. CBS, 8:30 p.m./Global, 9 p.m.

The Simpsons

It's a bit early for spooky cartoon silliness, but Fox's baseball-coverage obligations have bumped the annual Treehouse of Horror episode to early October. Along with the usual trio of scary shorts, this instalment features an opening "couch gag" by frightmeister Guillermo Del Toro. Fox/Global, 7 p.m.

Low Winter Sun

In this season finale, Frank faces the personal consequences of his actions as he grapples with his sanity. At the same time, the Detroit Police Department gets a major break in the McCann case. Lennie James also stars. AMC, 8 p.m.

The Mentalist

Patrick Jane seems to inch closer to Red John when he uncovers an important clue to the killer's message in this new episode. Meanwhile, the CBI investigators take a look at the case of a software engineer who was killed by a drone strike. CTV, 9 p.m./CBS, 9:30 p.m.
