The Sound of Music

Julie Andrews stars as Maria, a young woman who leaves a convent to become a governess in this classic. The film, which was based on the iconic Rodgers and Hammerstein stage musical, also stars Christopher Plummer as the widowed Capt. Von Trapp. ABC, 6 p.m./CTV, 7 p.m.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

For a certain segment of seasonal celebrants with a skewed sense of silliness, this 1989 Chevy Chase-led comedy is right at the top of the must-see list. In it, Clark Griswold's over-the-top Christmas celebration goes predictably awry. CBC, 8 p.m.

Bob's Burgers

Bob inherits a storage unit in this holiday-themed episode. Each family member imagines what treasures might be hidden inside, but all they find is a mysterious man named Chet (guest star Zach Galifianakis), who claims he was once a mannequin. Fox, 6 p.m.

The Mentalist

In the repeat episode Devil's Cherry, Lisbon and the CBI investigators look into the murder of a diamond cutter while Jane meets with a girl who claims she's his late daughter. CBS, 8:30 p.m.
