Skaters return to battle on ice after time out

  • Print

TORONTO -- Figure skaters Kurt Browning and Jamie Sale -- as well as Hockey Night in Canada commentator P.J. Stock -- will serve as judges on the upcoming season of CBC-TV's Battle of the Blades.

The televised competition -- which pairs hockey players with figure skaters -- returns Sept. 22.

Hosted by CBC sports announcer Ron MacLean, the show aired for three seasons but took a break last year.

CBC says the cast will be revealed online starting Sunday.

The new season will see a change in format, with a combined hour of performance and elimination.

The show's co-creator, Sandra Bezic, previously served as head judge but will now act as executive producer and mentor to the skaters.
