TV picks of the week
War Story
Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., History
History Channel begins its Days of Remembrance programming schedule with this new documentary series, which features interviews with Canadian military veterans -- including the last surviving fighters from the Second World War -- who share their perspectives on courage, sacrifice and survival.
CFL Playoffs
Sunday at noon, TSN
It's the post-season for Canadian football, which this year means a Bomber-less broadcast schedule. The semifinal doubler-header kicks off in the East, with the crossing-over Edmonton Eskimos in Toronto to face the Argos and their former QB, Ricky Ray. Later, the western semifinal has Saskatchewan travelling to Calgary.
Ron James: Manitoba Bound
Monday at 8 p.m., CBC
In this special, which first aired on New Year's Eve 2008, features Canada's perpetual-motion comedy machine at the top of his game, delivering a show with broad appeal but filled with clever local references that range from ghosts at the Fort Garry Hotel to cross-border shopping on Louis Riel Day. As it turns out, James knows us pretty well.
