TV Picks of The Week

Flashpoint

Thursday, Dec. 6 at 9 p.m., CTV

After five seasons that can only be called hugely successful by Canadian TV-series standards, Flashpoint begins a two-part series finale in which a series of downtown bomb blasts creates the most dangerous and challenging situation Team One has ever faced. Part 2 airs next week.

That's All: A Tribute to Johnny and His Musical Mates

Friday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m., PPTV

This quaintly charming locally produced special showcases a special concert held at the Riverton Hall in Manitoba's Interlake in July 2011 to pay tribute to one of the area's most beloved musical acts. It's as low budget as TV production gets, but its heart is in the right place. PPTV, 8 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m., Space

Just in time for the long-awaited and endlessly over-discussed Mayan-calendar doomsday prediction, British "psychological illusionist" Derren Brown creates an elaborate stunt in which one person is led to believe that the Earth actually has been devastated by a meteor strike that could end all life on the planet.
