When Joanne Dunlevy (Rachael Harris) decides to go to law school, her husband, Jack (Christopher Meloni), becomes a full-time dad to teenagers Frankie (Connor Buckley, above) and Rachel (Claudia Lee). In this pilot episode, Jack's blunt parenting approach raises some concerns.

Sunday, March 30, at 8 p.m., PBS

The hugely popular BBC series returns for a third season, with the midwives of Nonnatus House dealing with the cultural changes that sweep through Britain as the 1950s give way to the soon-to-be-swinging '60s. Also premièring March 30 is Season 2 of the department-store drama Mr. Selfridge.

Friends With Better Lives

Monday, March 31, at 8 p.m., CBS and Citytv

Right after they say goodbye to How I Met Your Mother, viewers can stay tuned for the première of this new comedy. Six friends find themselves at different stages of life, but each thinks the other has it better. The series stars James Van Der Beek, Brooklyn Decker, Kevin Connolly and Zoe Lister-Jones.
