TWO local foodies are among the field of 50 contestants chosen for the CTV reality/competition series MasterChef Canada.
Freelance food journalist Mike Green, an aspiring restaurateur, and chemist and hunter/survivalist Ryan Wright, who is described in a network-issued bio as a "country boy who loves to cook what he kills," are among 50 home cooks from across Canada whose auditions earned them spots in the CTV series, which premières Jan. 20.
In the series-opening episode, each of the 50 amateur chefs will be required to prepare a signature dish for judges Michael Bonacini, Alvin Leung and Claudio Aprile. The eventual winner of the competition will win $100,000 and the first-ever title of MasterChef Canada.
