  • Print

Canadian indie rock solo artist Shotgun Jimmie will perform live at the Winnipeg Free Press News Café today at 2:30 p.m.

Jimmie, whose real name is Jim Kilpatrick, was the Shotgun in Canadian indie roots act Shotgun & Jaybird in the mid-2000s and has since recorded three full-length albums of lo-fi indie rock. He’s also collaborated with the likes of Attack in Black, Ladyhawk, Joel Plaskett and Weakerthans’ frontman John K. Samson.

Shotgun Jimmie’s 2011 record, Transistor Sister, was a long-list nominee for the Polaris Prize and he’s currently touring the country in support of his latest album, Everything Everything, which was released in March of this year on You’ve Changed Records.

At the News Café, Shotgun Jimmie will play a couple of songs from his new album and discuss his music with Winnipeg music journalist John Kendle. He plays the Park Theatre on Saturday, May 25 at 8 p.m. with Winnipeg’s own Cannon Bros.
