In 2006, German prosecutors announced they would not be launching an investigation into Madonna’s Confessions world tour after the singer performed a controversial mock crucifixion scene at an Aug. 20 concert, attended by 45,000 fans at Duesseldorf’s LTU Arena. The scene featured Madonna, wearing a crown of thorns, pinned to a massive mirrored cross.
