Ask The Expert Valentine Card

Dear Mike,

I got a box of old Valentines many years ago from my parents' estate.

The one pictured is the fanciest. I think it is over 100 years old.

It is in very good condition and quite large. It folds out to make a three-dimensional image.

Are these collectible and what would the value be?

Ingrid B.

Hello Ingrid,

Old Valentine cards are very sought after by collectors. Cards like this were manufactured in Germany and England in the early 1900s. You have a die-cut, three-dimensional, mechanical card. It appears to be in excellent condition, which adds to the value. The Valentine card you have would be in the price range of $45 to $60.
