Bachman takes second step on Canada's Walk of Fame

RANDY Bachman is headed to Canada's Walk of Fame -- again.

The Winnipeg-born rocker, who was first honoured by the Toronto-based Walk in 2001 when the Guess Who was inducted, will receive solo-career recognition when this year's class of six inductees is added in September.

Bachman's longtime Guess Who bandmate, Burton Cummings, received his own plaque on Canada's Walk of Fame last year.

Bachman, a founding member of the Guess Who who also enjoyed chart-topping success with Bachman-Turner Overdrive, is part of a 2012 Walk of Fame class that also includes actor/comedian Phil Hartman, CFL legend Russ Jackson, singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan, National Ballet star Sonia Rodriguez and, on the 40th anniversary of its Summit Series triumph in Moscow, Team Canada 1972.

This year's Walk of Fame ceremony takes place Sept. 22 at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre. The event will be televised by Global TV in October.

The list of Manitobans on Canada's Walk of Fame also includes Evelyn Hart (2000), Neil Young (2000), Monty Hall (2002), David Steinberg (2003), Tom Cochrane (2009) and Doug Henning (2010).
