City composer's fringe hit opens new TO company
Joseph Aragon
A new Toronto stage company will debut next October with Winnipeg composer Joseph Aragon's 2009 fringe hit Bloodless: The Trail of Burke and Hare.
Theatre 20 is a new artist-lead troupe spearheaded by artistic director Adam Brazier, who played Frank-n-Furter in MTC's The Rocky Horror Show in 2007, and Colm Wilkinson, best known for originating the role of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables.
The Theatre 20 announcement is a big break for the ambitious Aragon, a National Theatre School graduate. He's a prolific composing machine regularly turning out works like Lucrezia Borgia and Illuminati: The Musical for the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. The Free Press rated Bloodless worthy of four and a half stars, calling it "a wickedly entertaining spectacle." Wilkinson will direct Aragon's Toronto debut slated for Oct. 16-Nov. 11.
