Get a backstage pass at Manitoba Opera
MANITOBA Opera is inviting the public to see the area behind the arias at the Centennial Concert Hall.
Free guided backstage tours will be offered on Sunday, April 22, as part of the company's biennial Open House. It's a day between performances of Donizetti's comedy The Daughter of the Regiment, running April 21, 24 and 27.

The hour-long tours will take visitors to the orchestra pit, onstage and into the wings. They will stop at stations to look at hair and makeup, costumes, props, staging and the rehearsal process. The tours run every 20 minutes beginning at noon, with the last tour starting at 4 p.m.

Comedienne Mary Walsh of This Hour Has 22 Minutes is making her opera debut in the non-singing role of a pushy duchess in The Daughter of the Regiment.
The opera stars former Winnipegger Nikki Einfeld as Marie, a spunky tomboy adopted and raised by a regiment of soldiers. Tickets are on sale at 944-8824 or www.manitobaopera.mb.ca
