For sale: One snow-covered, four-metre-high sarcophagus. Never been used.
The Manitoba Museum is selling the colourful funeral receptacle that stood outside its building to accompany its current Egyptian exhibit Wrapped: The Mummy of Pesed.
Built by local artists Anne Armit and Kim Forrest with the support of Sputnik Architecture, the sarcophagus was installed Oct. 18 and has survived the nastiest winter in years without any signs of deterioration.
The highest bidder over the next couple of weeks gets it. The minimum reserve bid is $2,000. The actual production cost of the sarcophagus was $12,000.
Wrapped: The Mummy of Pesed continues at the museum until Sunday, April 6.
