TORONTO -- Between meeting the wizard, donning ruby slippers and hugging Andrew Lloyd Webber, Danielle Wade is starting to realize she's not in Kansas anymore.

The 20-year-old from the small town of La Salle, Ont., won the role of Dorothy in a Toronto production of The Wizard of Oz on CBC TV's Over the Rainbow last night.

She says she's excited for the tornado of activity that's to follow.

That activity includes several interviews, doing her first costume fitting, signing her show contract and figuring out a place to stay in Toronto.

Wade says the experience is like being in the Emerald City.

The University of Windsor acting student beat out two other finalists and says she was in a daze when her name was called because she didn't think she would win.

Lloyd Webber's new stage adaptation of The Wizard of Oz begins performances at the Ed Mirvish Theatre on Dec. 20.
