Public invited to honour Rachel Browne on Friday

A PUBLIC celebration of Rachel Browne's life will be held on Friday at the Centennial Concert Hall, Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers and Browne's family have announced.

The event to honour the revered founder and former artistic director of WCD will take place at 2:30 p.m. on the Piano Nobile level of the concert hall.

Browne died on Saturday at age 77 while visiting Ottawa to attend the Canada Dance Festival. The American-born performer, choreographer and teacher, a Winnipegger since 1957, was a pioneer of contemporary dance in Canada.
