Q Dance troupe performs at Gas Station in June
It's the off-season for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, but nine of the company's top dancers are once again serving as muses for rising choreographer Peter Quanz.
The Q Dance troupe will perform June 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and June 10 at 2 p.m. at the Gas Station Arts Centre in a program of three world premieres by the globe-trotting Quanz, who has recently established a home base in Winnipeg.
The performances are presented by RWB.
One piece will showcase RWB principal dancer Vanessa Lawson, who has been struggling with a knee injury, "in a work that explores the body as an instrument and its betrayal during injury."
Winnipeg cellist Minna Rose Chung will accompany two of the works.
Prior to the Winnipeg shows, Q Dance is performing two signature Quanz ballets, In Tandem and Luminous, as the sole Canadian company in dance festivals in New York City and St. Louis, Mo.
Tickets for the Gas Station shows are $25 at 956-2792 or at the door.
