NEW YORK -- A bright orange-yellow and white painting by Mark Rothko is heading for the auction block in New York City, where it could fetch up to $35 million.
Christie's says Untitled (No. 11) will lead its post-war and contemporary art sale on Nov. 12.
The oil painting, created in 1957, is estimated to sell for between $25 million and $35 million.
The monumental work by the American abstract expressionist was purchased by the current owner at a Christie's sale in 1992.
The painting, measuring 200 centimetres by 175 centimetres, is reminiscent of a radiating sunset.
Last May, Christie's sold Rothko's Orange, Red, Yellow for $86.8 million. It set a record for any contemporary artwork at auction.
