The wrath of the lamb
Music website The Gauntlet has posted video footage that allegedly shows the incidents at a Lamb of God concert in 2010 that police are claiming resulted in the death of a fan 14 days later. Vocalist Randy Blythe was arrested in Prague last week, charged with manslaughter and thrown in jail, but the video footage posted at thegauntlet.com shows that the 44-year-old vocalist had minimal involvement with the 19-year-old fan who jumped onstage three times.
RANDALL KING / MOVIES
The Dark Knight Rises ... and takes his time about it
Director Christopher Nolan doesn't have a problem attaching epic running times to his Batman movies, and his finale, The Dark Night Rises (opening July 20), comes in as the longest of the bunch. It's 165 minutes, compared with Batman Begins, which was 140 minutes, and The Dark Knight, which was 152.
BRAD OSWALD / TV
For The Closer, it's closing time
With very little fanfare, Kyra Sedgwick has spent the past six years creating one of the most intriguing female-cop characters in TV history -- The Closer's Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, a stubborn, southern-raised LAPD investigator with an ability to close tough cases and a willingness to bend the rules to get the job done. And now the 2010 Emmy winner (best actress, drama series) is headed down the home stretch with a final six-episode run (beginning Wednesday at 11 p.m. on Super Channel) in which her aggressive tactics may come back to haunt her.
MORLEY WALKER / MOVIES
Polley hoists the Maple Leaf
Among its many virtues, Sarah Polley's new movie, Take This Waltz, is unapologetically Canadian. Of course, there's its Toronto setting and the almost entirely Canuck soundtrack. But who else would have the courage to show her lead characters watching the 10 p.m. news with Peter Mansbridge and not intend it as ironic?
KEVIN PROKOSH / THEATRE
Jump the queue
