RANDALL KING Ñ MOVIES
Missed out on all those Breaking Bad water cooler conversations due to a lack of cable and/or Internet? Relief is coming. The full series is coming to Blu-ray DVD in a deluxe 16-disc set, all packaged in "a collectible replica barrel representing part of Walter White's dark legacy." Evidently, that was sturdier packaging than a half-dissolved bathtub. Look for it on Nov. 26.

There's something fishy about this story
This isn't one of those campfire tales about the big one that got away; instead, it's a perhaps-too-late cautionary tale about the one that wouldn't go away. When CBC's The Nature of Things opens its 53rd season (Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. on CBC), host/narrator David Suzuki introduces Carpe Diem: A Fishy Tale, a documentary about the frighteningly prolific group of species known as the Asian carp -- enormous, 50-kilogram aquatic eating machines that are threatening to invade Canada's waterways. Originally introduced into North America as a bottom-feeder that could clean up algae in fishponds, the Asian carp escaped into river systems in the U.S. during floods in the 1970s and has been making its way northward toward the Great Lakes. And from there ... well, the possibilities for all of Canada's fresh water are a bit daunting.

Breaking Bad game almost makes us feel less scarred
The final couple of episodes of AMC's hit show Breaking Bad were pretty intense, so this simple yet addictive 2D Flash game may just be the distraction you need after the finale last weekend. Made by fans for fans, the game is full of little details and references to the show and is a fun way to take your mind off the fact that the critically acclaimed series is over. The game is available at bit.ly/bb_game.

It'll do until Chronicles Vol. 2 comes along
A manuscript by Bob Dylan's tour manager in the early '60s is being snapped up by publishers worldwide. Another Side of Bob Dylan, according to the U.S. trade journal Publishers Weekly, is based on audio tapes that the late Victor Maymudes was using as the basis for a book before he died in 2001. His son Jake has revived the project. The book is slated for release next fall, the 50th anniversary of Dylan's Another Side album.

You go, girls
Nothing raises the hopes of a new theatre season more than a spate of new plays, many of which will introduce fresh voices and ideas to the Winnipeg stage. The curtain rises this week on two premières by members of the so-called group of seven female playwrights. Carolyn Gray completes her Winnipeg Trilogy with The Miser of Middlegate, opening Oct. 3, followed six days later with the first offering of WJT's all-new, all-local 2013-14 playbill, Good Intentions by Ginny Collins in her professional debut.
