TRANSGENDER funnyman Ian Harvie will be bringing his standup act to the Garrick Centre on Dec. 13. Tickets are $32.50 (plus fees) at Ticketweb.ca.
In 2006, Harvie's wry brand of comedy caught the attention of comedian Margaret Cho, who handpicked him to be her opening act and later cast him as a permanent member of her off-Broadway burlesque comedy revue, The Sensuous Woman. By 2009, he had graduated to headliner status with his one-person show, Parts Sold Separately, which explores sex and gender, all over the world.
Harvie's debut feature-length comedy concert film, Ian Harvie Superhero, was released earlier this year. The film, a document of his transition, was an official selection at more than 20 film festivals worldwide, including Outfest in Los Angeles, Frameline in San Francisco and Homochrom in Germany.
