They're here. The punk headbangers, stilt-walkers, burlesque dancers, drag queens, vampire lesbians, deaf mimes, performance poets, puppeteers, improv artists, musicians, monologists, standup comics and Shakespearean actors are all here for the 27th annual Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival running until July 27.
All they want are Winnipeggers who like to watch them.
A new high of 176 indoor shows will be performed in 30 venues from noon to midnight as Old Market Square comes alive like no other time of the year. The larger lineup has emboldened executive producer Chuck McEwen to predict ticket sales will surpass last year's record of over 101,000 if the weather co-operates.
Now, on with the show!
