World-class dance troupes set for Silver City screens

SOME of the world's leading ballet companies will be performing soon on a big screen near you.

Cineplex Entertainment has announced the 2012-2013 lineup for its Front Row Centre Events Dance Series. Each month will feature a different live performance by the likes of Russia's Bolshoi Ballet, Britain's Royal Ballet and the Netherlands Dance Theatre.

This year's series kicks off Sept. 30, 12:55 p.m., with the Bolshoi Ballet's La Sylphide, one of the world's oldest surviving romantic ballets. August Bournoville's drama follows a mortal's love for a magical sylph.

The dance series will air at Winnipeg's two Silver City theatres, Polo Park and St. Vital.
