On the Night Table: Emily Doer

Emily Doer

Red River College creative communications student and founder of Tea for Eating Disorders

"I recently finished Amy, My Daughter, a memoir by Amy Winehouse's father, Mitch Winehouse. Mitch recounts Amy's rebellious childhood, rise to fame, abusive marriage and drug and alcohol addiction. Readers feel Mitch's pain as he describes the helplessness a parent experiences watching their daughter's life crumble before their eyes. I enjoyed gaining insight into this brilliant artist's tragically short life. Next on my list is Jodi Picoult's latest novel, The Storyteller. I've read every book she has written and I enjoy the ease and rhythm of her writing, and I am always intrigued by the difficult yet relevant topics she writes about."
