On the Night Table: Lynne Skromeda

Lynne Skromeda

Executive director, Winnipeg Folk Festival

"I'm currently reading Blood: The Stuff of Life by Lawrence Hill, who's best-known for his novel The Book of Negroes. This book was created as a written recording of the 2013 CBC Massey Lectures -- each chapter can also be heard online in Hill's voice. It's a great read -- it's altering and expanding my understanding of how blood works, what it represents and its impact on our history and present-day lives. While it's a part of us all, I'm learning it connects us in deeper ways than I ever imagined. And there's a good Winnipeg connection in the book, too."
