"I just finished reading an amazing account of a woman who spends five years living and working with a Mayan healer in Belize. It's called Sastun (by Rosita Arvigo), and it was lent to me by a wise teacher of mine. I loved that it gave a window into the life of a practical mystic: for the medicine man, shadows and the occult have no problem mixing with the lightness, laughter and humility of human life and death. It was life affirming. We need to respect our elders and their knowledge, and not let it die with them."
