Manitoba's Last Frontier
By Hans Arnold
Friesen's Printing, 181 pages, $50
WINNIPEG photographer Hans Arnold captures the splendour of Manitoba's wilderness and wildlife in this collection of 185 photos, beginning at latitude 50, north of Winnipeg, and ending at latitude 59, at Churchill.
The photos showcase our boreal forests, Prairie vistas, pristine waterways, aboriginal communities and never-ending tundra.
His love of the outdoors and Manitoba's diverse landscape are evident in the book, which is sure to cure the condition known as "Perimeteritis" (an affliction suffered by many Winnipeggers). Arnold wants to inspire us to explore our massive province, to get beyond the prairie and head "up north" to a less-travelled and beautiful world. With scenes as inviting as these, who wouldn't want to take up that challenge?
