  • Print

POETS from east and west will meet Monday for a Manitoba Writers' Guild evening of poetry and discussion.

Halifax poet and novelist Sue Goyette, who was the 2011 winner of the Banff Centre Bliss Carmen poetry contest, joins Manitoba writer Sarah Klassen, whose latest poetry collection, Monstrance, has been nominated for the McNally Book of the Year Award, at the Winnipeg Free Press News Caf© at 7:30 p.m.

Goyette, who teaches creative writing at Dalhousie University in Halifax and has been shortlisted for the Governor General's Literary Award, will be reading from her recent poetry collection, Ocean.

Klassen, whose novels have earned her the Margaret Laurence Award for Fiction, will read from Monstrance and from her latest novel, The Wittenbergs, which was released earlier in September.

Tickets are $10, available at the door. For more information, go to www.mbwriter.mb.ca.
