Eleanor Catton, whose novel The Luminaries won the 2013 Man Booker Prize and the Governor General's Award for Fiction, will kick off Thin Air 2014, the Winnipeg International Writers Festival, Sept. 19.
Catton was born in London, Ont., in 1985 and moved to New Zealand with her parents when she was six. She now lives in Auckland.
The Luminaries is her second novel, and at 28, Catton is the youngest winner in the Man Booker Award's history.
Thin Air 2014 teamed up with similar writers festivals in Ottawa, Montreal and Kingston, Ont., to bring Catton to Canada for a tour. Catton will give a reading followed by an onstage conversation with Thin Air director Charlene Diehl, a release says.
