John Goodman dished out fraternity spankings

John Goodman took part in fraternity "spankings" in university.

The 'Argo' actor - who was part of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Missouri State University - witnessed juvenile initiation pranks such as pledges being hit with paddles and being forced to drink bodily fluids.

In an interview with ShortList magazine, he said: "When I was in [university] there were aspects of [hazing] - just a lot of servitude, some spankings with a huge paddle. It got crazier, but I got out of it by then. I couldn't afford it any longer.

"Apparently there's something called 'Hell Night' where you have to drink a lot of substances that you wouldn't normally ingest - bodily fluids."

The 60-year-old actor also revealed that he regularly receives strange gifts from fans.

He said: "A woman sent me a picture of herself naked in a bath tub that had a huge ring around it and she had a dog in the tub with her. I hung on to that for a while - just to show my friends."

John also holds on to keepsakes from his film sets, regularly taking home the canvas print from the actors' chairs.

He explained: "I used to keep chair backs - the canvas chairs that have the title of the film and your name on them."
