Russell Crowe pokes fun at Hathaway

Russell Crowe teased Anne Hathaway about her wardrobe malfunction.

The 30-year-old actress was left humiliated after emerging from her car for the 'Les Miserables' premiere in New York in December when her dress rode up and showed that she was wearing no underwear but she was able to laugh along when Russell joked about the incident.

According to HollywoodLife, as her co-star presented her with the Lacoste Spotlight Award at The Costume Designer Guild Awards earlier this week, he revealed Anne's childhood desire to become a nun, before adding: "Isn't that lovely? Then she found out they actually require you to wear underpants when they go out at night."

However, the relaxed actress merely replied: "I was wondering when you were going to make a joke about that."

Anne's initial reaction to the incident wasn't so relaxed, she previously revealed it made her sad and she thought that photographers shouldn't have shared her "vulnerable moment" with the world by releasing the pictures.

She said: "It was obviously an unfortunate incident. It kind of made me sad on two accounts. One was that I was very sad that we live in an age when someone takes a picture of another person in a vulnerable moment and rather than delete it, and do the decent thing, sells it.

"And I'm sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies sexuality of unwilling participants, which brings us back to 'Les Mis', that's what my character is, she is someone who is forced to sell sex to benefit her child because she has nothing and there's no social safety net."
