Simon Cowell launches global talent show

Simon Cowell is launching a new global online talent contest.

The television mogul will team up with YouTube to create 'You Generation', an online talent show for musicians, photographers, make-up artists and people with "unconventional and original talents".

The year- long competition kicks off on March 20 and will be available in 15 languages and 26 countries.

Unlike some of Simon's other talent contests, the auditions will be held on Youtube and uploaded by contestants themselves. The entrants will then be judged by professionals associated with Syco, Simon Cowell's music entertainment label.

Auditions will be sought in a different category of talent every two weeks.

A statement from Syco said: "The channel offers people with unconventional and original talents the opportunity to have their talent recognized by the world and become the next internet star."

Calling the competition "a new worldwide entertainment concept," Syco and YouTube said 'You Generation' will be "the first global audition process, giving people the chance to show off their outstanding skills and win amazing prizes - simply by uploading a video".

Simon has yet to announce the prizes for the competition, but they will be provided every fortnight with a winner being chosen for the grand prize at the end of the year.
