Sulky brat Kristen Stewart earns top actress dollars

ACTING like a sulky brat pays, kids, never mind what your mother told you. Kristen Stewart earned US$34.5 million in the last 12 months, and according to Forbes, that's enough to make the Snow White & The Huntsman star the highest-paid actress in Hollywood, ahead of vets including Cameron Diaz ($34 million), Sandra Bullock ($25 million), Angelina Jolie ($20 million) and Charlize Theron ($18 million). How do you like 'dem poison apples? If you slept through Snow White & The Huntsman, maybe not so much, but Forbes notes that Stewart has managed to secure the top spot because of her work in the Twilight saga, a franchise that's enabled her to demand more than most young actors. After the success of the franchise's first films, Forbes notes Stewart smartly demanded more for the third and fourth instalments of the series. According to Forbes, Stewart earned roughly $12.5 million for each of the Breaking Dawn films, plus a cut of the profits. That's the same deal her male co-stars, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, scored -- though as Forbes points out, that sort of egalitarian payday isn't the norm in Hollywood. If you pooled the earnings of all 10 actresses on this list, you'd get $200 million. (Forbes' previously announced Top 10 men earned a combined $361 million in a year.)

The magazine compiled its list by examining actresses' net earnings between May 2011 and May 2012. Everything including upfront pay, profit participation, residuals, endorsements and ad work was considered.
