Suri Cruise takes Katie's make-up

Suri Cruise loves make-up.

The six-year-old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise has been getting beauty tips from her mum, who has advised the budding fashionista to go for a minimalist and chic look to suit her age.

Katie explained: "My daughter Suri loves make-up. She's only six! Usually I can't find my make-up when her friends come over. I tell her to be subtle with it.

"You can always put more on. Start with one product. You wouldn't wear all your jewelry at once."

The 'Dawson's Creek' actress hopes her young daughter will inherit her own natural and effortless approach to beauty and believes dramatic make-up should be saved for special red carpet occasions.

She explained: "My approach to beauty is to be as natural as possible and make decisions that make sense. If I'm going to wear heavier make-up, it's dictated by the event: for The Met Ball I can do something very dramatic, but I wouldn't do that for a movie premiere."

Katie - who is the face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics - claims she once tried a bold hair color for a film and couldn't wait to revert back to her natural shade of chocolate brown because it was too daring for her tastes.

She confessed to Britain's ELLE magazine: "My most extreme beauty look I've tried was when I dyed my hair red once, for work. I did not enjoy the experience. I'm just not that person who's going to change my color every few weeks."
