Manitoba films make TIFF's top ten
THREE Manitoba films — two features, and one short — have been included in the Toronto International Film Festival’s list of Canada’s Top Ten, which honours excellence in contemporary Canadian cinema.
The feature-length productions that made the grade are Winnipeg director Sean Garrity’s My Awkward Sexual Adventure, which was screened at this year’s TIFF, and Goon, which was included in the 2011 festival. Both were recognized for their "humour, authenticity and strong performances."
Keep an Honest Head, a short by local filmmaker Deco Dawson, was named the festival’s best short film this year and was described by the TIFF judging panel as "mind-blowing magic."
All the films in TIFF’s Canada’s Top Ten will be screened at the TIFF Bell Lightbox theatre from Jan. 4 to 13.
