Jack Layton biopic to be shot in Winnipeg
JACK Layton, the popular federal NDP leader who died last August, will be immortalized in a CBC telefilm to be shot primarily in Winnipeg this August.
Titled Smilin' Jack: The Jack Layton Story, the biopic will be produced by local production company Eagle Vision and Pier 21 Films
No casting has been announced, but the film will largely concentrate on the federal election of 2011 with flashbacks to 1985, when Layton first met his wife Olivia Chow, who has reportedly given her blessings to the film.
