TORONTO - The Canadian Press has been asking entertainment personalities to share their thoughts on Sunday's Academy Awards. Today, Canadian actress Jill Hennessy talks about her favourite film of the year and the fellow Canuck she's rooting for.

"I loved 'The Descendants,' I think Alexander Payne is just a brilliant writer/director and that film is just so easy to relate to," says Hennessy. "Everybody is so good but ... the boyfriend (Nick Krause) who I didn't hear much about in the press was unbelievable, what a subtle, beautiful performance and incredibly realistic."

She's hoping to see Canadian thespian Christopher Plummer win the best supporting actor Oscar for his role in "Beginners." Plummer plays a dying widower who reveals to his son (Ewan McGregor) that he's gay.

"He deserves it, I've only seen scenes from that film but he's glorious and in a way I've never seen him; it's a really gutsy, open performance," Hennessy says.

"I think he's going to win it, if I were to put money on it — and I'm not really a betting person — I'd put my money on Christopher Plummer."
