Budding Winnipeg filmmakers face their own mission: impossible.
Their mission, should they choose to accept it, is to write, shoot, edit, score and complete an original film short in just two days. All this for the 48 Hour Film Contest.
The films will be screened Sunday at 7 p.m. at Cinematheque and judged by the audience and a jury. The top five films will be eventually be broadcast on Shaw TV throughout Manitoba.
The contest will foster creativity among Winnipeg and area filmmakers and will challenge their time-management skills, a press release says.
"This event is an opportunity to celebrate Manitoba filmmakers and the local businesses and arts communities in and around the Exchange District," says Ben Williams, the production centre director for the Winnipeg Film Group, which is putting on the contest.
Thirty prizes from 22 sponsors are up for grabs.
